The idea of creating a new website definitely is exciting. Perhaps its the feeling of a ownership, creativity, and uniqueness that make the thought of website design so much fun. The easiest thing to do is to copy someone else's site and change the logos, buttons, and content. But, hey, thats not design! You could create a single html page and publish it -- that'd be pretty easy -- not flexible, no features, but definitely simple.

 Also, you need to think about how much time and effort you are willing to put into learning. Anything new is going to require at least a bit of effort. There are countless services that offer easy website design (probably you've already surfed a few). A lot of these services offer what I call cookie cutter sites. What that means is you end up having a site that has a layout that is predefined (for example you don't have control of where your buttons go) and the flexibility of the content of your site is very restricted.  And you actually pay a premium to use the automated software that does the cookie cutting for you.

Now there is nothing wrong with choosing cookie cutter site, especially if you don't need flexibility or other advanced features. However, if you really want to use your creativity and passion to learn you ought to do things a little bit better to get more flexibility -- after all its your site it should be unique to your creative thoughts.
